Frequently Asked Questions

  • It’s up to you! A sketch can be a helpful starting point but written descriptions work just as well. Feel free to also share any photo reference. Please do not use AI to create a mockup of your idea, I would rather see your messy drawing :)

  • You will receive a preliminary sketch within one week of returning the signed contract and paying the 25% deposit. After that, the project timeline will depend partly on your feedback turnaround time and the number of iterations you request. Typically, a research figure takes around one month to complete. Please consider reaching out far in advance if you have a large project or a firm deadline!

  • I accept payment from all major credit and debit cards, as well as e-transfer if you are Canadian. I do not accept cheques.

  • Three rounds of edits (three drafts) are included in the price as long as the requests reflect the project description agreed on in the contract. Additional edits can be requested with a fee.

  • You may request any digital file types that you require (e.g. PNG, JPEG, PDF, TIFF, SVG) other than the original working files (Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, etc).

  • Any material that you share with me will be stored in a secure file that only I can access. Once the project is complete, you may request for that material to be deleted. I will only share the completed project in my portfolio after you have published it yourself, unless permission is granted.

  • My expertise is in science communication but I am also open to other educational and/or storytelling projects. Please reach out if you think I would be a good fit for your idea.
